Football and $tudent athlete$

College football isn’t really college football anymore. We should just be calling it what it actually is, professional football with college names. When Carson Beck can play “college” football without even going to classes, the term student athlete no longer exists. If players aren't even required to go to classes then how is this college sports? NIL and transfer portals have made it free agency every offseason with no control, and players chasing money with no interest in a college degree. There is actually more free agency in college football right now than in the NFL. It also appears the college contracts have no legal binding and seems easy with the aid of agents and lawyers for players to break away from a commitment and move on to a different team. Some players are moving from team to team every year. We are not far from seeing a player win a Heisman Trophy at multiple schools. If players are forgoing the NFL draft in certain circumstances because they can make more money playing college football how can it not be considered a professional league? You also have players using waivers to keep their college eligibility up to 7 or 8 years. It used to be if you stayed in college that long you were either a doctor or failed too many classes, but now you don't even have to go to class and can just play professional football for a college team.
