One thing about the Los Angeles Rams is that they will take chances and go for it. They will go all in and try to win a Super Bowl. Fans complain that they are just buying players, but they follow the same rules as every other team. Every team has access to free agency, trades, and the salary cap. The difference is that the Rams seem more willing than most teams to take big swings when they believe they have a chance to win. They took another chance with the Myles Garrett trade. There is no guarantee that it will pay off, but I like the fact that they are willing to take that chance. A lot of teams play it safe and worry too much about what might happen years down the road. The Rams have shown that if they believe a move can help them win now, they are willing to make it. They made some major roster moves in 2018, and it didn’t completely pay off because they lost the Super Bowl. Even though they came up short, they still gave themselves a chance to compete for a championship, and that is all you can really ask for as a fan. In 2021, they did it again with major trades that included acquiring Matthew Stafford and later Von Miller. A lot of people criticized those moves at the time and said the Rams were giving up too much. That year, it did pay off, and they won the Super Bowl. This season, it looks like they are doing it again with not just the Myles Garrett trade, but also the trade for Trent McDuffie. These are the kinds of moves that show the organization is serious about trying to win. Will it pay off? Time will tell, but as a fan, I appreciate that they make the effort. I would rather root for a team that is willing to take a chance than one that is always playing it safe. When they made those moves in 2018, people said it would take them years to recover and that they were being careless, but they continued to remain competitive. The same criticism was made when they made the moves in 2021, yet they have remained relevant. Every time the Rams make a big move, there are people predicting that it will eventually catch up to them. So far, they have found ways to stay competitive and keep themselves in the playoff conversation. They are following the same rules as every other NFL team when it comes to trades and the salary cap. They are not doing anything that other teams cannot do. They are just a team that is willing to take chances. Sometimes those chances will work out and sometimes they will not, but that is part of trying to build a championship team. Even if these trades don’t pay off, I will still be glad they took that chance because it shows they are committed to doing everything they can to win.
